Make an assessment

Wooden furniture is often left outside, exposed to the elements for long periods of time. Have a look at your furniture and decide if it is worth the time and effort preparing and painting.

Preparation

Preparing the surface of the wood to provide a good key - an adhesive surface - for paint. Remove any loose or peeling paint, varnish or existing surface finishes with a stiff wire brush and sandpaper before applying any fresh paint.

Use the right tools

When painting furniture, smaller brushes and rollers are the best choice to ensure a high-quality finish. A paint roller may be the best choice for a tabletop and larger surface areas. Clean your brushes and roller thoroughly with cold water after each application.

Avoid making a mess

Have all your supplies and tools ready to go before you get started. Move any other furniture away from the painting area. Cover the floor with dust sheets so you do not get paint on the patio, deck, or garage floor.

Choosing a colour

Little Knights exterior paint is available in six different shades, all suitable for outdoor furniture. Consider using a colour that complements the existing colours in your garden or outside space.

No need for a primer

There is no need for a primer or undercoat to be applied, Little Knights paint functions as its own primer. Simply dilute the paint by 10%.

Apply the paint

A common rule of thumb is to use two coats of paint to ensure good coverage. Apply thinner coats as they will dry faster.

Begin painting, ensuring the paint is applied evenly and in the same direction as the grain of wood.

Do not apply too much paint to the brush, to avoid drip marks, and paint out drips as they appear.

Before applying a second coat, please allow four hours for the first coat to be completely dry.

No need for a topcoat or varnish

Little Knights exterior paint provides a durable, weatherproof finish therefore a topcoat or varnish are not required.

Furniture care

Little Knights paint is touch dry in 15 to 20 minutes; although we recommend waiting at least seven days after it is applied before wiping the surface. Use a soft cloth and clean soapy water to clean the painted surface.

Enjoy!

Once the paint has thoroughly and completely dried, sit back and relax on your freshly revived outdoor furniture.
